On a beautiful morning/afternoon here in Middle TN, I took a day trip out to Edgar Evins State Park. I set up in a parking lot right next to the lake, looking out to the dam. Since it was a Monday, I was nearly by myself the entire time. I spotted myself on the website, and before I knew it, I had 102 QSOs logged.
I normally use paper logs and input them into a logging program after I get home, but I tried a new approach this time. I installed the HamRS logging app on my phone, and was able to keep up just fine. When I spot myself, and stay parked on one frequency for a while, I think I prefer this method. However, when I am jumping around and hunting other park activations, it gets a bit more tedious than I care for. I’ll always keep paper and pen on hand anyway, so I can easily choose to go “old school” if desired.
